I figured the first profile to start with (for future relating of Anecdotes) is me:
I'm currently a 21-year old college student who likes games. A lot. Tabletop games (especially tabletop RPGs) are really my passion, but I also really enjoy video games. I also have Asperger Syndrome, a mild form of Autism asscociated with increased IQ, so you may hear some about that. I've been interested in tabletop RPGs ever since middle school, and I've been playing them since 11th grade. Within my circle of friends, I'm mostly the designated GM, although that's because I really enjoy it.
Obscene Technology
This baby is my blog about warhammer 40k, RPGs, and (occasionally) politics. And MAYBE Fantasy Battle.

UGH! REBOOTING BLOG
Alright, So, I didn't blog. Like, ever. Figuring out how to photograph and transfer to my computer the work I did on my DE was too much work, especially since my main gaming buddy's interest in 40k crapped out right after I bought my DE. Shortly followed by mine.
The UNIVERSE is still great, don't get me wrong, but I'm kinda disillusioned with the rules. We'll see what 6th changes.
So, I'm refocusing the blog: I'm going to focus ALMOST ENTIRELY on tabletop games now, although you may get a video game discussion out of me once in a while.
I'm also writing two settings which I plan to spin up into full-fledged games:
Second Empires is a weird sort of Alternate SteamPunk Fantasy thing which I'm making some major revisions to.
Astrogue is a nearly-complete Sci-Fi setting which is closer to Hard than Soft (although I refuse to do very much math while creating the rules).
I'm also going to share anecdotes about my specific gaming experiences. The next upcoming post is going to detail the people I play with, and the pseudonyms I'm going to use to refer to them.

Miniature Haemonculus--one man's quest to repair a damaged Dark Eldar Army
I just bought a dark eldar army off of E-bay. When it got here, I opened the box with the vehicles and spare sprues/bitz first. I was ecstatic--it had everything I wanted, and, even if the raiders were the ugly old model, it was still a great army. And then I opened the case with the infantry. Old, poorly-painted warriors and wyches were everywhere, and several of the models were damaged in transit.
While I'm not ragging on the guy who sold it to me (I should have asked more questions), it's got some work that needs to be done to it. (I'll post pictures when I get home; I'm at school right now). Over the course of this project, I expect to learn quite a few useful skills.

- Many of the infantry models are damaged. I'm going to need to repair them
- A lot of the miniatures are the old Warriors and Wyches.
- While the Old Warriors are workeable, the faces on the Old Wyches are hideous (especially on the female models). I'm going to need to fix those. My plan ATM is to cover up their faces in a greenstuff helmet (I'll have to learn to sculpt)
- The painted warriors are not painted to my standard at all. So I'm going to need to learn how to strip paint from miniatures to fix that.
- Part of the lot was a forgeworld Dark Eldar Raven Fighter. Sadly, it's not completely assembled, so I'm going to need to learn to work with Resin.

Eldrad is Dead!
So, lets talk about warhammer 40k...
Despite this mostly being an Ork blog, our first topic is going to be Eldar. Specifically Eldrad. First, some history:
Back In The Day (AKA: before I started playing 40k), GW had a big campaign called the Eye of Terror (There've been some allegations that they rigged the campaign, but we'll get into that later). During that campaign, Eldrad attempted to purify a Blackstone fortress, and got himself "killed" (he's actually trapped in a fight with a massively powerful chaos-thing that he has virtually no hope of beating, but same difference.) And then the 4th edition eldar codex came out. Instead of cutting Eldrad like the should've, GW kept him in the codex, and made him a ridiculously awesome farseer that costs LESS then a fully-kitted out normal farseer. Back then, the Eldar were really the best psykers in the galaxy. And then Space Wolves came out. The ridiculous brokenness that is Jaws of the World Wolf means that the SW are now the best psykers in the galaxy, especially since (from a flavor and gameplay perspective) the Eldar rely on support powers.
So, now we've got a problem. I think that GW is going to "bring back" Eldrad in the next Eldar codex, but that's a bad move. Since he was never really gone from the tabletop, his "death" had no impact. Instead, I propose that Eldrad be removed altogether from the next Eldar codex, and that his abilities (three powers per turn) be made avalible to ALL farseers. Being to cast three support powers per turn would return the farseers to their rightful place as the best psykers in the galaxy.

And So It Begins
Welcome to Chaos Is Nothing, my blog. I'm not much of the blogging type, but I'll give it a try.
Here I'll blog about whatever I feel like, but I'll focus on a few topics:
Now, about me. I'm a college student at North Carolina State University. I've got Asperger Syndrome, so don't expect to hear about a social life here. I currently am running a Dungeons and Dragons group in my spare time, and I'm about to start running a CthulhuTech group.
I play warhammer 40k, and my army of choice is Orks (although I really like Dark Eldar). My little brother plays Eldar, so that's why they're on the blog.
More to be added as it warrants.

- Warhammer 40k (especially Orks, Eldar, and Dark Eldar)
- Video games (especially RPGs)
- Tabletop RPGs (specifically, Dungeons and Dragons, CthulhuTech, and Deadlands)
- College (mostly how the experience can be improved, and how general education sucks)
- Autism (especially Asperger Syndrome)
- Technology
- Freedom and Rights (especially as they relate to technology)
- Post- and Trans-humanism
